The Belgian Red Cross, a leading player in the field of humanitarian action, is constantly fighting to alleviate human suffering and prevent humanitarian crises.

The support of the Order of Saint-Gabriel allowed the acquisition of 50 “tourniquet” garrots. The “tourniquet” garrot is indicated when direct compression is insufficient, ineffective or impossible. Small, lightweight, resistant and easy to use, it can stop the bleeding of the upper limbs (on the arm) or the lower ones (on the thigh).
On 10th January 2017, Lieutenant-General Alain van BELLINGEN, Honorary Consul of Estonia, and Senechal Hervé GILSON, Honorary Consul General of the Comoros, representing the Chapter of Belgium, were received by the Vice-President of the Red Cross of Belgium Daniel DELMEE, to attend the reception of the acquired equipment.
